The 2023 Native Plant Residential Rebate Program

The Town of North Hempstead is partnering with the Nassau County Soil and Water Conservation District to offer Town residents up to $350 per household for the purchase of native plants to be used to replace lawns or an existing garden space with a native plant or rain garden.

Native plant gardens and rain gardens both use native plants, which have a multitude of environmental benefits. The Town’s goal is to increase native plants and wildlife habitat throughout the community.

To qualify, residents will be required to complete an application that includes information about their proposed garden location, their estimated budget, native plant species chosen, proposed garden size, photos of proposed planting location and a basic layout.
